Whatever the weather

Friday 28 March 2014

Full on wellies are great for country walks or torrential rain. But on an average drizzly day when you don't want to ruin your best shoes by accidentally stepping in a huge puddle, a pair of wellington boots wouldn't be my choice of footwear. But these Sun Jellies ankle wellies are perfect! The classic chelsea boot style makes them easy to team with any outfit and they're really comfortable too.

The 'Jumpy' boot is available in lots more colour ways on the Sun Jellies website and of course the famous jelly shoes in just about every colour.

Coat: Vintage - similar here, Sweater: Etre Cecile available at Nola Boutique, Hat: Carhartt, Jeans: Topshop, Boots: Sun Jellies

EYE want you

Tuesday 25 March 2014

My newest object of desire from Zara (the unrelenting force of temptation) is this fantastic eye print dress. I'm not usually one for the TRF range but this season it's really worth a look - especially the dresses and shoes. As a dress this is a bit short for me but I think it would work great as a tunic over some cropped trousers or jeans. And very Kenzo!

The Collective / Jennifer Loiselle

Monday 24 March 2014

A little something I've been meaning to share with you for a while is this beautiful 'Mini Clemence' necklace by Jennifer Loiselle. I actually won it at the launch of online jewellery and accessories boutique The Collective. I'm really looking forward wearing it this spring/summer as it's the perfect statement flash of colour I need for my predominantly neutral wardrobe!

More of Jennifer Loiselle's beautiful creations here, and do check out The Collective for more fantastic accessory and jewellery designers.

The Fedora

Wednesday 19 March 2014

Wearing a hat needs a certain amount of confidence. Or you need to be one of those people who doesn't care what people think (a rare species in my opinion). And yet whenever I see a woman wearing a Fedora I feel totally inspired.

I recently bought myself this one from Whistles after having ummed and arred for weeks, until finally they sold out in the Brighton store and I had to order one in. So far my eldest son has told me I look like a cowboy (he thinks that's a compliment) and I'm pretty convinced that when teamed with the wrong outfit I look like a quaker. That said, I am growing in confidence with each wear and hope to inspire someone else to take the plunge into the world of hat wearing.

Dorateymur

Tuesday 11 March 2014

One of my London Fashion Week highlights was discovering shoe designer DORATEYMUR. His beautifully crafted block heel mules and loafers have consumed my mind ever since! 'Femininity with a bite, and a dash of masculinity' perfectly sums up his signature style. Inspired by Air France's retired Concorde jet, the AW14-15 collection is the imagined perfect statement shoe for the air hostess of the late 1960's.

Personal favourites include the 'Turbo Jet' silver patent loafer, and of course the fabulous 'Munise' mules. And with the mule being such a fashion favourite right now, can you blame me for wanting them in both the leopard pony print AND white leather? Watch this space...
